North Road
.Sir,—l notice the Ministry of Works still wants a North road extension to the Waimakariri straight past the Belfast Hotel with a new bridge—and road through the best farming land west of the dwellings on the Main road, and crossing several minor roads, instead of widening the present bridge and approaches and moving the present west railing and leaving the concrete centre for the division of traffic. This scheme is unpractical and extravagant and does not give what the public want. The scheme is unworthy of a public authority. The cost of each scheme should be given.—Yours, etc., C. G. McKELLAR. July 2, 1959.
