Hunger Strike Called Off
(Rec. 10 p.m.) PARIS, July 1. Algerian nationalist prisoners in two big Paris prisons had called off a hunger strike, the American Associated Press said today Some 700 Algerians in the Fresnes and Sante prisons had been refusing food since June 18 to support their demands for ‘treatment as political detainees rather than as common criminals” Political prisoners were granted more freedom and a better diet.
There was no indication, however, whether their demands had geen granted, said the agency.
