Commonwealth Navy Exercise
SINGAPORE, June 30
A total of 38 warships and eight auxiliaries from six Commonwealth countries will take part in naval exercises in the Indian Ocean, Admiral Sir Gerald Gladstone, Commander-in-Chief, Far Eastern Station, announced today. The exercises, planned for July and August, are the largest joint Commonwealth naval exercises ever held in the area.
In a statement today Admiral Gladstone said the exercises would concentrate on anti-sub-marine warfare, trade protection and the operation of a carrier task force. , .
