FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex depression is moving south-east-wards over the North Island, and a ridge of high pressure extends from Tasmania to the South Island. Forecast:— • Westland and Buller.—Light to moderate winds, mainly south-westerlies; a few scattered showers, chiefly in the north, but weather otherwise fair to cloudy and rather cold. Outlook: mainly fair. Nelson and inland Marlborough.—Light to moderate winds from a southerly quarter; scattered showers about the ranges at first, but weather mainly fair and cool. Outlookmainly fair. Coastal Marlborough, North Canterbury, and Banks Peninsula—South-west winds, fresh in exposed areascloudy and cold, with showers Outlook: becoming fair. Rest of Canterbury.—Moderate south-west winds predominating; variable skies; a few coastal showers, otherwise mainly fair and rather cold. Outlook: mainly fair. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
