A 21-year-old Glasgow University student scored his greatest , golfing triumph when he shot a 09 to pome within one stroke df the amateur course record for Muirfield today—and then found he was disqualified from further play in the British open The student was Raymond Munro He scored 75 at Gullane yesterday and was certain of qualifying in his first open. ' But his partner. South African professional James Muir—was so interested in Munro's score for the last hole he forgot to enter it on the card. Munro had wantea a 4 to equal the record. He shot a five But Muir put down his inward ninehole card total—3s—in the space on the card for the eighteenth bole score.

After it was all over. Munro took a quick look at the card and signed it as correct.

An official took a longer look and saw it Was not correct. So Munro was on his way back to Glasgow to-night-disqualified from the tournament for signing an Incorrect card, his triumph not even recorded on the official score-board.
