AMMUNITION FOR RABBIT BOARDS
Conference Dissatisfied With Monopoly
(New Zeatana Press Association) BLENHEIM, July 1.
Shot-gun ammunition for rabbit boards could be obtained from only one firm in New Zealand and the firm could dictate all the terms, the secretary (Mr A H Goyder) told the annual conference of the South Island Rabbit Boards Association in Blenheim today Mr Goyder said the firm made the ammunition only once a year and boards had to place their orders in plenty of time. Boards were having great difficulty in getting orders fulfilled and many were buying standard heavy ammunition, said Mr T R Beatty The association intended approaching the Minister to ask him to inquire into the prospects of obtaining a licence to import ammunition, said Mr Goyder The fact that one firm could dictate the terms was a great drawback. said Mr C. C S Parker If the gun clubs and* the association “kicked up a din” something might be done A Coastal Otago remit: “That the association is dissatisfied with the supply and distribution of rabbit board cartridges, and that the matter be taken up at Government level to ensure that, in view of the large number of boards now in existence, the manufacture. quantity, distribution and prices are. in future satisfactory.” was carried unanimously
