INDONESIAN MOVE

Dual Role For Soekarno (N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11.50 p.m.) JAKARTA, July 1. The Indonesian Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Abdul Haris Nasution, said today that President Soekarno would play the dual role of Head of State and Head of Government in the next Cabinet.

The constitutional position of the President would be the same as in the United States and Egypt. The general added that the lifting of the army ban on political activity would depend on developments. The ban would not automatically be lifted with the return of the 1945 Constitution. He said the 1945 Constitution would enable the country to have a strong and stable government which was not based on party coalitions.
