SEWAGE TREATMENT PROBLEMS

(New Zeatana Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 1. The North Shore, Hutt Valley and Dunedin, drainage boards have agreed to join the Research Advisory Committee of the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board.
The committee consists of representatives of the Drainage Board, the Auckland University and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It is intended to carry out research into problems associated with the treatment of sewage and trade effluents.
D The Christchurch Drainage Board has also been asked to a OI R' + Ut not yet given a definite reply.
Troops For Malaya Nearly 300 members of the* 2nd Battalion of the New Zealand Regiment, which is to relieve the Ist Battalion in Malaya towards the end of this year, left Papakura by tram yesterday morning for Waiouru. There they will join the remainder of their battalion tor further training. The men completed their basic infantry course last week. They will probably finish their training at a jungle school in Malaya before taking over from the Ist Battalion in November.—(P.A.)
