SITE OF ARTIFICIAL LAKE AT BENMORE. — This area will be submerged by the new lake which will be formed when the Benmore hdro-electric project is completed. The diversion cut for the Waitaki river is shown in the foreground. About 3000 acres of land will he footed for water storage, and at this spot the causeway over the dam will be 300ft above the lake bed. Cars will be using the roadway in 1905. On the hillside on the left is the new road to Burkes Pass.
