SIR VALLEY’S FUTURE

Riccarton Trip In Doubt “The Press" Special Service MATAMATA. June 30. Sir Valley, winner of the Winter Cup at Riccarton, will not make the trip this year unless he shows top-flight form at Trentham, according to his trainer, J. R. Gillies, of Matamata.

Gillies intended to take the promising young staying hurdler Bennie on from Trentham to Riccarton but said this morning he might not do so as he felt he was not quite ready for the gruelling distance of the Grand National Hurdles. Athenree One is back in work with N. Crawford at Matamata. She showed ability this season as a two-year-old. and might be a speedy early three-year-old. L. W. Ford brought Stormy back from Hastings on his return. He will be prepared for jumping.

Ford has turned Golden Pine out and it is unlikely she will be perservered with. Ford will go south to Wellington in time to supervise the final preparation of Glenreagh for the Wellington Steeplechase.
