Lakes And Power
i Sir, Apparently "Modern | ‘Methods” has not heard ol Ihej ' Forest and Bird Protection i Society, which devotes the whole I ;of its resources and the support [of its 6000-odd members to just I that cause with which he is conjeerned. Perhaps with the head i office being situated in Wellmgjton. reports of the society s activities do not appear to the same extent in the provincial newsI papers, but I can assure "Modern [Methods” that the society does ; conduct a round-the-clock cam- : paign for the preservation oi our native birds and their breeding grounds, and our forests, includi ing areas of special scenic attracItion. The Government-sponsored (commission, appointed last year to ' investigate the problem of soil [erosion, specially commended this ! society for the constructive evi[dence submitted for the preservation of our native forests. At i present all branches of the society 'are supporting a petition originated by our Whakatane branch to save the forests of the Urewera ,and elsewhere throughout the ; Dominion. —Yours, etc., I. H. GRAY. ;l Hon. Sec.. Forest and Bird ;[ Protection Society. !l June 23. 1959.
