BOMB TESTS Experts Meeting On Monday
(Rec. 8 p.m.) GENEVA, June 18. The three-Power nuclear conference today discussed financial questions and technical arrangements for the expert group which is to begin talks on Monday on the detection and identification of high-altitude tests, conference sources said.
Sir Michael Wright, of Britain, was in the chair and the next meeting will be held tomorrow.
The West had twice asked the Russians to discuss the technical arrangements for the experts’ talks, and had twice been told that the Soviet side was not ready.
U.S. PLANES IN FAR EAST
Fighter Escorts Not Planned
(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 18. The United States Navy said today it had no plans to provide fighter escorts for patrol planesover the Sea of Japan, where Communist fighter planes attacked a reconnaissance aircraft this week. The Navy added that it had cancelled a plan to send escorts on a single patrol flight. The statement came after Congressional sources reported that jet fighters armed with deadly accurate Sidewinder missiles would accompany patrol planes on future flights over Far Eastern international waters.
Malayan and New Zealand have invited the Malayan. Prime Minister to make a goodwill visit to their countries later this year.—Kuala Lumpur, June 18.
