PHARMACY SCHOOL

First Courses Next Year

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14.

Details of the New Zealand School of Pharmacy to be opened next year at the Central Technical College, Petone, were announced by the principal of that college (Mr E. Mills). In November, Cabinet approved the establishment of a two-year full-time course of pharmacists at the Central Technical College. Mr Mills said that under the scheme evolved by the planning committee, the New Zealand School of Pharmacy would be largely a separate unit within the Central Technical College with its own head and staff, but subject to the control of the Board of Managers and the principal of the college.

From the beginning of 1960, entrants to pharmacy, who must hold University Entrance to be eligible, would attend a two-year full-time course at Petone.

In spite of all its efforts, the Board of Managers had been unable to provide a hostel for students, who would have to make their own arrangements with one of the existing hostels or with a private family. • Before the end of the year a list of approved boarding places would have been prepared.
