INTER-ISLAND SERVICE Ships For Overhaul The first of the inter-island steamers to lay up for annual overhaul this year will be the Hinemoa. which will withdraw from the service on her arrival at Wellington on July 21. The Rangatira will replace the Hinemoa. The Hinemoa will re-enter the service at Wellington on September 7. replacing the Maori, which will lay up for overhaul until October 19. APPOINTMENT ON ORIANA Chief Engineer Of Orcades (Nero Zealaria Press Association! AUCKLAND. June 14. •The chief engineer of the Orcades. Mr Ernest C. Melville, is making his last visit to New Zealand before beginning his most important appointment in 38 years at sea—chief engineer of the 40,000-ton Oriana. which will be launched in October. Aboard the Orcades at Auckland Mr Melville said his appointment was a great honour. He has been head of the engineering staff of every one of the Orient Line ships.
