ARSON CHARGE
Accused Committed For Trial
(New Zealand Press Association) OAMARU, June 11.
Pleading not guilty to a charge of arson at 15 Caledonian road on April 15, Raymond David Welsh, a commercial fisherman, of Oamaru, was today committed ror trial at Dunedin. He appeared before Messrs H. C. Jeffery and A. C. Murray. Justices of the Peace, in the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court. Bail was allowed.
Evidence was given that a fire in the accused’s home, owned by the State Advances Corporation, at 11.30 p.m. on April' 15 caused damage estimated at some. £l9OO. Evidence was also given of an alleged argument between the accused and his wife before the fire during which articles including a frying pan, kettle, and teapot were thrown through the kitchen window.
