1. Letters sent w the fiditoz roi printing must be written in ink on one side of the paper only, and writers must send in their names and addresses in full, whether they wish these to be printed or not 2 Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers 3 The Editor cannot return or Reep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing, nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters. although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence 4. Questioner.—Hair-cutting is not subject to the control of the Price Tribunal. One Who Knows.—No space for another discussion just now on the licensing laws. Civil Defence Officer. —You make some good points; but we have already rejected letters on this subject on the ground that they reopen discussions recently closed. There will be opportunities for discussion later. Jean Cotterill. —The statement printed on May 5 was in answer to letters referred to the City Council by "The Press." Possibly the use of the term, “much controversy.” suggests that the reserves department is unduly sensitive to criticism; but we would not agree that it should be reproached on that account. Hokitika.—Sorry; but we see no need for a repetition of the long discussion in this column. New Zealand’s standing in the game would be quite irrelevant if the tour were to be abandoned in support of a principle firmly held in New Zealand but not recognised in South Africa. If there is to be a tour, our players must abide by the laws and the conventions of the host country, just as visiting teams do here; and the simple fact is that Maoris could not travel with and live with the rest of the team without some special amendments to the apartheid laws of South Africa.
