DIAMOND HARBOUR SEWERAGE
Council To Take Ballot The Lyttelton Borough Council decided last evening to proceed with investigations of the cost of the extension of the sewerage system at Diamond Harbour and to take a ballot of ratepayers on the proposal. Cr. w. Morris said it was eight months since the council agreed to proceed with the scheme. The town clerk (Mr J. Thompson) suggested that it would be better to approach the Local Government Loans Board to ascertain its views on the proposal before taking a ballot. If the ratepayers rejected the proposal, then the' council would not have to go to tfie board, said Cr. Morris. He moved that the cost of the extension be ascertained and a ballot be taken on the. proposal. The motion which was seconded by Cr. A. R, Champion, was carried.
