Spirited Reply By Somerset iN.Z Press Association—Com/nghtt LONDON, June 1. Led by the Australian batsman, C. V. McCool who scored 92 not out. Somerset made a spirited reply to the Indian cricketers’ big score of 432 for nine wickets declared, at Taunton, Somerset, today. At the close of the second day’s play, Somerset was 234 for four and needed only 49 runs more on a perfect batting pitch to save the follow on. The Indians. 310 for four on Saturday, batted on this morning before declaring at lunch. McCool and the opener. G. Atkinson, put plenty of spirit into Somerset’s reply McCool, with a glorious array of strokes all round the wicket, raced to 50 in 70 minutes. Scores INDIA First Innings P.
