SYDNEY WOOL SALES

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 2. Keen sustained competition, particularly from Japan marked the second day of the- Sydney wool sales today. Good support came from the Continent and Britain, with limited buying by local mills. Values for most descriptions of merino fleece and skirtings, comebacks and crossbreds ruled firm at yesterday’s rates. However, some irregularity was in evidence for heavy burr and inferior wools. The selection was mainly of topmakers and average spinners. A large proportion of the offering contained a medium to light amount of vegetable fault. Approximately 4050 bales of comebacks and crossbreds were offered. Prices included: Good to average 60’s 59d per lb, average 56’s 48Jd, good average 58’s 54d.
