SINGAPORE P.A.P. SUCCESS

Mr Nash’s Hopes For Policy (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 2. The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) told a questioner at a press conference tonight that he “hoped and believed” the policy of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Secretary - General of the People’s Action Party, which had a landslide victory in Saturday’s Singapore elections, would be in accord with the general policies of the British Commohwealth. Mr Nash declined to discuss the question of New Zealand diplomatic representation in the new Singapore State. This will be a matter for agreement between the two Governments.

Diplomatic observers here consider New Zealand's representative will have the rank of High Commissioner.

Miami merchants complained to police that the man who headed the firm formed to protect them from passers of false cheques had himself been passing false cheques.
