LONDON FLAT RAIDED
Russians Visit Dmitrievs’ Home
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, June 2. Five Russian Embassy officials last night “raided” the seventhfloor flat where a Russian diplomat’s wife, Nina Dmitriev, lived before she vanished, the “Daily Express” reported. The rooms were ransacked. The Russians were there for more than an hour and a half, it said. All that could be heard outside were bumps and bangs as suitcases and drawers were opened. The “Daily Express” said there were five officials—four men and a woman—who arrived at the Bayswater flat early in the evening. Mrs Dmitriev, wife of the assistant naval attache at the Soviet Embassy, disappeared two weeks ago with her five-year-old daughter. She is still being kept in hiding by MIS men.
Her husband, Captain Aleksandra Dmitriev, was recalled to Moscow after Mrs Dmitriev refused to return to the Embassy. What were the Russians doing last night? A squat, blue-suited man who answered the door said: “.Carrying out orders.” Behind him, the flat was in disorder. Drawers were on the floor and the carpet had been turned back, said the “Daily Express.” Had they found anything? “That’s our business,” said the Russian, slamming the . door.
