AUCKLAND TRIAL

Whineray’s Team Wins (New Zeaiana Press Association/ AUCKLAND, May 25. Thirty players from North Auckland counties and Auckland playea before the Nw Zealand selectors in the first All Black trial at Eden Park tnis afternoon. The Blue team, led oy W. J. Whineray, the All Black captain of last year, won by 32 points (four goals, two tries and two penalty goals) from J. B. Hutchinson’s green team with 19 points (two goals, a try. and two penalty goals). All players, produced one or two outstanding efforts. Unhappily, too few of these moments of top-class Rugby were knitted into a combined team effort, and the trial, as a spectacle and as an indication of the players’ merits, suffered. The blue tries .were scored hy T. R. Lineen (Auckland). P. Raymond (Counties). J. Sibun (Auckland), R. R. Cossey (Counties). D. S. Webb (North Auckland), and Whineray (Auckland). M. (North Auckland) kicked a conversion and a penalty goal. E. H. Whatarau (Counties) placed two conversions and a penalty goal, and Sibun converted one try. K. F. Barry (Counties), R. King (Auckland), and L. J. Townsend (North Auckland) scored the green tries, and W. A. Davies (Auckland) converted two and also kicked two penalty goals.
