Captain H. R. Hewlett To Give Address

Captain H. R. Hewlett, naval adviser to the United Kingdom High Commissioner in Wellington, who will address the annual meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League on Wednesday, is due to relinquish his appointment and return to Britain at the end of this year. He came to New Zealand in August, 1957. The title of Captain Hewlett’* address will be “Recent developments in the Royal Navy.” While in Christchurch Captain Hewlett will also address members of the Canterbury Officers’ Club. Captain Hewlett was promoted to his present rank in 1957. At that time he was staff officer (operations) to the commander-in-chief. the Nore. During World War II Captain Hewlett served destroyers. Among his former commands was H.M.S. Paladin.
