Co-operation
Sir, —As the oldest former president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association, I commend you for the able and interesting summing up of the necessity for true co-operation between local industry and primary producers. During my two years as president of the association, I respectfully urged the Government to give priority to British products and a true measure of protection to our local industries. In my speech of 1913 I urged better understanding between capital and labour. What can be achieved in this way was demonstrated by Sir Winston Churchill and his all-party Government during the war. His main objective was the elimination of political prejudice and personal animus. In common with most folk, I am also conscious of the dire necessity for Divine support and direction.— Yours, etc., A. W. JAMIESON. May 7, 1959.
