AIR CENTRE PLANS
New Sites Under Investigation
No firm decision on a site for an air centre in Christchurch has been made by the National Airways Corporation.
Sketch plans for a centre on the south-east corner of Colombo street and Bealey avenue have been drawn, but the corporation is now investigating other sites closer to the main city area. A spokesman for the corporation said yesterday that because the question of distance of the new centre from the main busines area had been raised by several organisations and because of the heavy expenditure. the corporation’s board had decided not to go ahead with the plans in the meantime, and to investigate other sites.
