COMMERCIAL Markets Inactive But Firm On ’Change

Turnover was again light on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, but the tone of the market was firm. Three parcels of Government stock changed hands, one at a lower yield and twd at higher yields than were obtainable last week. There were more buyers than sellers in this section of the market. Canterbury Frozen Meat, in first business since Easter, gained 5s to sell at £25. National Mortgage and Ready Mix Concrete were also firmer. . One parcel of Reid Murray sold unchanged at 10s 4d and another parcel sold Id higher. Cox Bros, and Tasman changed hands at lower prices.
