Police Promotions Announced
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 14.
The appointment of three inspectors to the rank of chief inspector was announced by the assistant Commissioner of Police (Mr W. Carran) today. All three promotions become effective immediately. Inspector H. Campin, of Auckland. is promoted to chief inspector and transfers to Napier as officer in charge of the district. The officer in charge of the Gisborne district. Inspector A. D Buchanan, is promoted to chief inspector and remains in Gisborne. The third officer to be promoted is Inspector C. L. Spencer, who had responsibility for police arrangements for the recent S.E.A.T.O. conference in Wellington, will remain at headquarters.
Tongan Fishing Fleet. —Prince Tungi of Tonga said at Suva today that he was on his way to Japan to buy fishing vessels. A Tongan fishing fleet would begin operations next year, under the supervision of Japanese experts, he said.—Suva, April 13.
