Richest Man’s Heir Marries

(Rec. 8.20 p.m.) LONDON, April 13. Prince Mukarram Jah, who will succeed his grandfather, the Nizam of Hyderabad—believed to be the richest man in the world—was married quietly in London today, according to the “Daily Express.” His bride, a 21-year-old London University student, Esra Birgen, belongs to one of Turkey’s most prominent families. Three years ago the Nizam dramatically deposed his eldest son as heir and nominated Prince Mukarram Jah in his place. Some estimates place the Nizam’s wealth at £5OO million. The Prince, who was trained as an army officer at Sandhurst, had been to Cambrdige University and might now take an economics course at London University, the newspaper said. The Prince’s mother was the Turkish-born Princess of Berar. Her secretary said today the Nizam would choose the date and place of the religious wedding.
