EDWARDS IN MOSCOW

Fears For Future Of Moustache LONDON, April 14. The British radio and stage personality, Jimmy Edwards, was a worried man in Moscow last night, according to the “Daily Express” diarist. He couldn’t have a shave. “I can’t find a plug for my electric razor,” he said stroking the stubble around his famous moustache. “Why not go to the barber’s?” he was asked. Edwards looked about him with a strange, puzzled expression on his face. “What, with this moustache and me not speaking the language? It’s too valuable to take chances,” he said. Edwards, comedian, trade unionist, pilot, scholar, musician and heavy-weight huntsman, went to Moscow with a trade union delegation fully equipped for all eventualities, the dairist said.

He had his cap and gown, in case someone asked him to lecture, his trombone in case someone asked him to play, a fur coat and hat in case it got cold and his riding boots in case someone asked him to hunt. “But it doesn’t matter about the hunting so much. I’ve got a bottle of Scotch in one boot and a bottle of brandy in the other.” he said.
