POLICY OF INDIA

“Revision May Be Necessary” (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, April 13. The Tibetan issue might force India to revise her neutralist policy, the Pakistani Foreign Minister (Mr Manzur Qadir) said in Canberra today. India might draw closer to Pakistan, he said. “The further India gets away from the Soviet Bloc the nearer it will come to us.” Mr Qadir, who is paying a brief visit to Australia at the invitation of the Federal Government was speaking at a press conference. Another Asian Foreign Minister (Mr Thanat Khoman) of Thailand said at a second press conference that the Tibetan issue was likely to have far reaching effects in many Asian countries. “It appears that the Communists intend to tighten their grip over Tibet and possibly expand their activities still further,” he said. “A number of delegates who were so enthusiastic about having Communist China in the United Nations will probably be considerably cooler on the idea now.” he said.
