Ireland Wins, 3-1 At Belfast (New Zealand Press Association) BELFAST. April 12. Ireland beat New Zealand, 3-1, m an international women’s hockey match at Belfast today The game started at a fast pace both sides taking turns on attack Good combination by Ireland’s forward line tested the New Zealand defence. A centre from the right wins enabled Lynas to score for 1 Ireland. New Zealand retaliated and from a • penalty corner M. Donnelly scored I lor New Zealand i Rain was falling when the seclond half started and conditions were | unpleasant. Ireland took three penalty corners in succession but the ! New Zealand defence held. New (Zealand was later awarded three : penalty corners but there was no I score. I Ireland then forced a penalty corner and Buckley scored with a high shot, giving the goal-keeper no chance. On full time Ireland scored again.
