Puma Wins By Head (New Zeaiuna Press Association) _ INVERCARGILL. April 12. Puma won the Wairio Cup, the mam event and first leg of the double at the Wairio Trotting Club's annual meeting on Saturday. The second leg was won by Dark Orator, for £ Ombination returning £l7 0s 6d There was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £14,807, compared with £16.500 10s last year, a decrease of £1693 10s. A new totalisator house and a new stewards’ stand and office buildings, built at a cost of £BOOO, were in use for the first time. After the running of the Wa Iraki Handicap an objection was lodged against second placing being awarded Br «nze Empress on the grounds that she galloped over the winning line.
