Taranaki Butter For Southland

(New Zeaiana Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 12. A larger amount of butter than usual will be brought to Southland from Taranaki to help the local market over the winter period. This move has been caused by dry conditions, although butter is usually brought to Southland during the winter. Local consumers are drawing larger amounts of butter from the market, but this is normal for this time of the year, said a spokesman for the Farmers' Dairy Federation in Invercargill this evening. It is usual to import butter to Invercargill during the winter, as the trend towards meat production has caused the shortage, the spokesman said.
