RUGBY TEAM IN SYDNEY
Barbarians Beat Rotorua, 31-9
(N.Z Press Association—Conuriaht* (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY’, April 8. A powerful Barbarian side was too strong for the visiting Rotorua team, and won by .31 points to 9 before 1.300 people at Chatswood Oval, Sydney, today. Barbarians led by 13 points to 0 at half-time The home side scored seven tries, five of which were converted, to Rotorua’s, one try and two penalty goals. There was a stir just three minutes after half-time, when the Australian test forward, A. R. Miller, was ordered from the field after punches were exchanged among the forwards. The test referee (Mr Arthur Tierney) sent Miller off and the Barbarians played the final 37 minutes of the game a forward short. Miller is due to play his 100th game foi Manly Club on Saturday, but his appearance will now depend on an official inquiry. It was a tough game rather than I a brilliant spectacle, and the two sides played with unexpected vigour.
