PICTORIAL RECORD OF PROGRESS
A project on which the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce has provided unrelenting pressure on the central Government is the improvement of the Christchurch railway station. These pictures show the first station as it was in 1864; as it was in 1881—the chamber then pressed for an improvement—and has remained almost unaltered for many years; and as it will be when the wish of the chamber and the community generally is given fulfilment by completion of the present building.
