ESCAPE

The announcement that the Dalai Lama had evaded the Chinese Communists and had escaped from Tibet into India was greeted with considerable satis fa ction throughout the free world. It is rare these days for such adventures to have satisfactory endings - not that there is much satisfaction in the situation in Tibet. However, the Dalai Lama won his race, and it was a change to find the Communists placed second.

The escape was, evidently, a carefully planned one, with many Tibetans involved in it. It was therefore a fine example of what can be achieved, in the most difficult situations, by teamwork. But that applies to events of far less importance internationally than this recent story. In any activity, preparation and co-operation are basic essentials to success, and that is why the classified advertising section of “The Press” has such appeal. The thousands who use it have the advantage of a specialised service, the assistance of a trained, experienced staff, and an excellent coverage of the province and much further afield.
