Death Sentences In Algeria

(N.Z Press -tnntinahi ORAN (Algeria), March 8. A military tribunal has condemned nine Moslems to death, two of them in their absence, at the end, of a five-day trial of 32 Moslems accused of terrorism. Four other Moslems were sentenced to forced labour for life, and the remainder to prison terms, some of which were suspended. The Moslems had been accused of being involved in 18 terrorist attacks since December, 1957, which caused 10 deaths and 54 injured. Official figures released m Algiers said 906 insurgents were killed or captured between February 23 and March 1.

According to these figures terrorists killed 32 Moslem civilians, wounded 19 and kidnapped 41. Among European, civilians four persons were killed by terrorists and 11 kidnapped. '
