Cricket TEST RUBBER TO PAKISTAN

Second Win Over West Indies

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) DACCA (Pakistan), March 8. Pakistan beat the West Indies by 41 runs in the second test at Dacca today to win the threematch series. Pakistan won the first test, in Karachi, by 10 wickets. Needing 214 to win, the West Indies was out for 172 in its second innings today. It fought back well from the ignominy of being dismissed for 76, its lowest test score, in the first innings yesterday, and for a while today it was back in the match with an outside chance of victory. Pakistan, which scored 145 and 144, was indebted mainly to Fazal Mahmood, Wallis Mathias and Shujaud-Din for its win. Fazal, using his cutters intelligently, took six wickets for 66 runs in the second innings, and 12 for 100 in the match. Wallis and Shuja, who saved Pakistan from rout in the first innings with a sixth-wicket stand of 86, stemmed another threatened collapse in the second with a partnership of 59. Wallis was top scorer in both innings with 64 and 45. Pakistan loked set for a comfortable win when it resumed its second innings this morning 189 runs ahead, with five wickets in hand. But a fine spell of hostile pace bowling by W. Hall brought the innings to an end in 45 minutes for the addition of only 24. The West Indies lost four wickets for 48 runs in its second innings, but G. Sobers (45) arid V. G. Smith (39) renewed its hopes with a sixth-wicket stand of 65, their quick running between the wickets baffling the Pakistan fielders. Scores:
