Mr Nash Speaks At Opening
(New Zealand. Press Association) BLENHEIM March 4. Decentralisation oi industry so that there would be no neea for children to leave home at too early an age to seek employment in other towns was advocated by the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) when he officially opened Marlborough’s Centennial Industries Fair tonight. Mr Nash said that while 66 per cent, of New Zealand’s manufactured goods was made in factories of 10 employees or fewer, in Japan 75 per cent, of manufactured goods was produced in factories of considerably fewer than 10 employees. The Prime Minister, who arrived in Blenheim from Christchurch this morning, this afternoon visited the saltworks at Lake Grassmere. Tonight he said that the works, enjoying a record season, would save New Zealand £500,000 in overseas exchange. The fair he opened tonight has J attracted exhibitors from many l parts of New Zealand. It will ! be open for four days. Mr. Nash is due to return to Wellington in the morning.
