Dominance Of Boys’ High

Winning five of the finals on th* programme, Christchurch Boys’ High School swimmers dominated the inter-secondary schoolboys’ swimming sports held at the Centennial Pool yesterday afternoon. St. Andrew’s College and Christ’s College each gained two wins. In spite of the cold weather there were several good times, and five races were in faster times than last year—the first occasion the sports had been held in the Centennial Pool.

Greymouth Technical And Papanui

Greymouth Technical High School met Papanui High School at Langdon’s road yesterday in tennis, softball, and cricket matches. In the cricket match. Greymouth, after a slow start, made 101 (P. Ware 30, M. Shepherd 20; R. Muff four for 22, R. Englefield three for 14). Papanui declared at 155 for eight (C. Schwass 48, L. Peters 38; P. Ware four for 42, B. Devlin three for 64). In its second innings Greymouth had lost three wickets for 47 at the close of play. Greymouth was unable to match the experience of the Papanui tennis team and lost by 13 matches to

St. Mary’s College

Two records were broken at the St. Mary’s College swimming sports. Helen Armstrong bettered the length junior breaststroke record by 4.2 sec. and the length freestyle by I.7sec. The senior championship was won by B. Neil, with 8 points, from R. Khouri, with 5 points. L. Murray won the intermediate championship, with 6 points, and H. Armstrong won the junior championship.
