HUNTSMEN FOR FORESTS
Service Interviewing Recruits
(Kew Zealand. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 4. In an effort to speed the destruction of pests damaging New Zealand forests, the Forest Service has embarked on a recruiting scheme to train young men as huntsmen.
In Auckland, two officers of the department were Interviewing applicants for the first course which will start at Golden Downs, south of Nelson, shortly Further Interviews will be conducted In Rotorua. Forty men have been interviewed so far. but only 10 are ■ required for the first course, ji Previously, the destruction of deer and opossums has been ’ carried out by part-time em--1 ployees in the summer. This sys--1 tem will continue, but It Is hoped to have a body of highly-trained 1 young men working the year round.
