50-Year Driving Ban Imposed
LONDON, March 4. A man was banned yesterday from driving a motor vehicle until the year 2009, according to the “Daily Sketch.” The man. Frank Sutton, a 37-year-old cowman, of Newton Toney, in Wiltshire, was gaoled for six months, after pleading guilty to charges of having driven a lorry without the owner’s consent, and having driven while uninsured and while disqualified. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of having stolen four bales of hay. The newspaper said the ban—for 50 years—was believed to be the longest ever imposed in a British Court.
