Ham And Air Pollution
Sir.—“ Voter” asks if the Minister of Works can give an unqualified undertaking that it will not create, at any stage, a smog nuisance. This undertaking may be given but Governments have been known in the past to give undertakings which have not been kept. In any case, the stacks would still be there, creating a blot on the landscape. Yours, etc., PRO BONO PUBLICO. March 3, 1959.
Sir.—To send our professors and lecturers overseas so they may learn modern methods is indeed commendable. Why do they come back and erect a smokestack at the new engineering school? This smog-maker is surely a relic of the Victorian era. Yours, etc., STAY HOME. March 3, 1959.
