NEW PAROCHIAL DISTRICT

Belfast-Styx Area The establishment of a new parochial district of Belfast-Styx as from April 1, 1959, has been approved ip principle by the Standing Committed of the Diocese of Christchurch. It was also decided that the boundaries be as recommended by the special committee in a report submitted to the meeting. The proposed boundaries will include the following centres: Papanui: St Paul’s, St James’ (Harewood road), new churchroom to be established in Isleworth road area. Belfast-Styx: St. Silas, Styx, where a new hall is about to be erected. St.* David’s, Belfast Kainga, where a new church is shortly to be erected. Burwood: All Saints, Burwood, St. Mark’s, Marshland, Burwood Hospital, Brooklands (Community Hall).
