£5000 WIN IN ART UNION

Cobden Woman’s Success (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. March 3. “Oh gee, I’m too excited to talk,” said Mrs R. G. Haddock, of Bright street, Cobden, to a representative of “The Press” this evening after she, had received news that she had won the first prize in the “Must Be In” art union, drawn today. Asked where she bought the ticket, Mrs Haddock said she obtained it in a street in Christchurch. “Goodness knows where, but it was a fortnight or three weeks ago,” she said. “It is really thrilling. Don’t ask me what we are going to do with the money.” Mrs Haddock said she must have had hundreds of telephone calls congratulating her. Mr and Mrs Haddock have two children, a boy aged four and a girl a year old. Mr Haddock is a fireman employed by the New Zealand Railways Department, which till his retirement today after 40 years of service also employed Mrs Haddock’s father, Mr W. Dunshea.
