Seventeen Die In Crash

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 2. All 17 persons on board a Brazilian Air Force Dakota which crashed 50 miles from Caravelles in Bahia State were killed, rescue teams reported tonight. The 12 passengers were all members of service families. Rescue teams were delayed in reaching the wreckage by storms.

New Mine In Siberia.—Work will start this year on building a new mine at Vorkuta, in Siberia, in which coal-cutting, conveying, and prop-setting will be done automatically by machines, the Soviet news agency Tass, reported. It will produce 10,000 tons of coal a shift. All production processes will be remotely controlled from a central panel.—Moscow, March 2.
