(New Zealand Press Association* WELLINGTON,March 1. New Zealand must seek to trade more and work mote closely with Japan, the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) Said in Wellington tonight after his return from Japan. Asia was’the coming market, for this part of the world, blit increased trade “must not be at. the expense of Britain,: but tout' of our added production." Mr Nash’returned to Wellington accompanied bythe Secretary for External Affairs (Mr A. D. McIntosh), his private secretary (Mr R. B. Taylor), and Mr M. J. Moriarty, of the Department of Industries and Commerce. _He confirmed that' the quality of New Zealand coal was “right” and that Japanese industry wanted i|t. "The steel industry in Japan is interested in importing coking coal from New Zealand,” he said in a broadcast tonight. One works he visited had just completed tests on 3000 tons of West Coast coal and had advised that it had qualities of the best. Many factors had still to be settled, including the questions of shipping and price.
