Both the Cambrian Society umU , the Welsh Society held banqu*l» ' on Saturday night and religiMi services yesterday. . to 1 ■ The Cambrian Society of Cen- ■ terbury held a banquet in fttie 1 Mayfair Lounge on Saturday . evening. The president (Mr J. ■G. Parry) welcomed visitor* 1 The toast to the Prince* of Watesi , was honoured, after which the traditional “God Bless the Prince of Wales,” was sung. The toast to St. David was proposed by Mr Parry, and the toast to Wale* by M- J. E. Jones. It was responded to by the Mayor (Mr G. Manning). The evening concluded with the singing of the Welsh Hymn "Rhbnda.” Yesterday afternoon, the Cambrian Society held its 41*t annual Welsh service in the Cathedral. This was the only. service of its kind to be held In New Zealand, and the order Of service ' was arranged on the same line* as, that used in the St. David’S day service held in Westminster 1 Abbey, with every other hymn ! lar. and the sermon preached by the Rev. H. L Hopkins. At the end of the service, the WeUb national anthem was sung. On Saturday, the Welsh Society held a social evening in the YJd.CJL hall. Yesterday members held a song service. Mrs E. V. Barnet was the speaker.
