Des Lake weighed in 101 b light. Lake's 101 b of lead dropped off four furlongs and a half from home. The race went to Sanvo (10 to 1), which beat Good Summer by one length and a half, with Sandra third; Lake, a promising apprentice, was perched up on Quitos's neck after going a furlong when his saddle Slipped forward. In spite of his difficulties, he rode the mare out vigorously to beat Sanvo to the post by two lengths. He could not pun toe mare up, and she was taken in hand by toe clerk of toe course.
