C. Jenkins Has Best Round
With visiting players from Manor Park (Wellington), Westport, and : Invercargill, and a total entry of 86. the first open tournament of the season played at the Avondale Golf Club’s links yesterday was highly successful, in- spite of the cold southerly -wind. The course was particularly fast, and some excellent cards were returned. The Avondale player, C. Jenkins : (8) had an excellent round of 72, heading another Avondale competitor. A. E. Ison, by one stroke. W. McGavock, the former Canterbury representative, scored a gross 75. Scores were:— 1 Best gross: C. Jenkins, 72; A. E. Ison, 73; W. McGavock, 75; C. Johnson. 75.
